Overview

In this Senior Data Architect role, you will provide technical leadership within the Data & AI practice and act as a trusted adviser to clients in healthcare or public sector settings. You’ll design scalable data architectures, govern data strategies, and coach a small data team. The position blends hands-on architecture, client consulting, and people development to shape data solutions across complex environments. You’ll drive architecture decisions and modern data platform implementations while ensuring regulatory alignment and enterprise impact.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design of robust, scalable data architectures across complex transformation programmes.
  • Guidance on data modelling, structures, flows, sourcing, transformation, migration and master data.
  • Translate business and technical requirements into practical data solutions.
  • Assess and modernise data environments; optimise data capabilities.
  • Ensure architecture assurance across project lifecycles against business, technical and regulatory needs.
  • Establish standards and best practices for data architecture.
  • Address data definition, ownership, mastering and information-management challenges.
  • Contribute to enterprise data architecture decisions as needed.
  • Recommend data technologies and products based on client requirements.
  • Engage with clients to understand data challenges and strategic objectives.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders and communicate complex concepts clearly.
  • Provide independent thought leadership on data architecture and industry practices.
  • Facilitate workshops to establish data strategies and architectural direction.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to challenge assumptions and guide technology decisions.
  • Help establish effective data governance frameworks and information-handling models.
  • Support capacity planning and decision-making across multiple storage technologies.
  • Design and assure solutions in modern data-platform environments and data lake ecosystems.
  • Stay informed on cloud, analytics, AI technologies and their enterprise applications.
  • Manage, coach and develop a small team; support performance and career development.
  • Promote knowledge sharing, collaboration and continuous improvement.
Key requirements
  • Significant Data Architecture experience with strong client-facing and technical leadership
  • Experience in UK Healthcare or Public Sector
  • Expertise in data modelling, data analysis, metadata management, data transformation, data migration and master data
  • Proven track record of providing architecture assurance, mentoring and standards definition
  • Knowledge of data architecture methodologies, patterns and best practices
  • Experience selecting data products and technologies at project or enterprise level
  • Ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Confidence in providing technical thought leadership to clients and internal teams
  • Knowledge of at least three mainstream data technologies and awareness of broader data tech trends
  • Proactive, resilient, and able to operate where requirements or priorities are uncertain
