Overview

As Senior Data Architect, you will shape data architecture across complex transformation programmes within healthcare and the public sector. You’ll lead technical direction, advise clients, and mentor a small data team, embedding governance and modern data-platform solutions. This role blends hands-on design with client engagement to deliver scalable, secure data solutions that support strategic objectives. You’ll join a growing Data & AI practice and help drive capability and excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design of robust, scalable data architectures across transformation programmes
  • Provide specialist guidance on data modelling, structures, flows, sourcing, transformation, migration and master data
  • Translate business needs into practical architecture solutions and assess opportunities for modernisation
  • Ensure architecture quality and regulatory alignment throughout projects
  • Establish and promote standards, patterns, and best practices in data architecture
  • Resolve data ownership, mastering, and information-management challenges
  • Contribute to enterprise data decisions and evaluate suitable data technologies
  • Lead, coach and develop a small team of data professionals
  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and convey complex concepts clearly
  • Provide independent thought leadership on data architecture and industry practices
  • Facilitate workshops to define data strategy and architectural direction
  • Support capacity planning and governance across multiple storage technologies
  • Maintain awareness of emerging cloud, data platform, analytics and AI technologies
  • Mentor junior team members and foster knowledge sharing and continuous improvement
  • Develop reusable standards and technical expertise to strengthen data architecture capabilities
Key requirements
  • Substantial experience in Data Architecture with strong client-facing and technical leadership
  • Experience in UK Healthcare or Public Sector
  • Expertise in data modelling, data analysis, metadata management, data transformation, data migration and master data
  • Track record of providing architecture assurance and mentoring
  • Knowledge of recognized data architecture methodologies, patterns, and best practices
  • Experience selecting data products and technologies at project or enterprise level
  • Ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively
  • Strong knowledge of at least three mainstream data technologies and broader data landscape awareness
  • Proactive, adaptable to uncertain requirements or environments
  • Experience coaching or developing junior data professionals
