As a Senior Data Architect, you will lead the design of robust, scalable data architectures within complex transformation programmes. You’ll provide technical direction across data modelling, governance, and integration while ensuring regulatory alignment and data quality. You’ll mentor a small team, collaborate with senior stakeholders, and shape enterprise data strategy across healthcare and public sector initiatives. This is a senior, client-facing role that combines hands-on architecture with leadership to deliver modern data platforms.
Responsibilities- Design robust, scalable data architectures for complex transformation programmes
- Provide guidance on data modelling, structures, flows, sourcing, transformation, migration and master data
- Translate business requirements into practical data architecture solutions
- Assess and modernise existing data environments; identify optimisation opportunities
- Ensure architecture assurance across project lifecycles meeting business, technical and regulatory needs
- Establish standards, patterns, methodologies and best practices
- Address data definition, ownership, mastering, and information-management challenges
- Contribute to solution-level and enterprise data architecture decisions
- Evaluate data technologies and products based on client requirements
- Lead, coach and develop a small team of data professionals
- Support performance, career progression and continuous technical development
- Foster knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within the data community
- Strengthen organisational data architecture capability through reusable standards and expertise
- Engage with clients to understand data challenges and strategic objectives
- Communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Provide independent thought leadership on data architecture and emerging industry practices
- Facilitate data strategy workshops and guide architectural direction
- Challenge assumptions to help clients make informed technology decisions
- Help organisations establish governance frameworks and information-handling models
- Address data quality, ownership, metadata and master-data challenges
- Contribute to capacity planning and decision-making across data storage technologies
- Maintain awareness of cloud, analytics and AI technologies for enterprise use
- Manage and develop junior data professionals
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to wider data community
- Significant Data Architecture experience with strong client-facing and leadership capabilities
- Experience in UK Healthcare or Public Sector
- Strong expertise in data modelling, data analysis, metadata management, data transformation, data migration and master data
- Proven track record of technical leadership across data projects and programmes
- Experience with architecture assurance, mentoring, and defining technical standards
- Knowledge of data architecture methodologies, patterns and best practices
- Experience selecting data products and technologies at project or enterprise level
- Ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Thought leadership in data architecture to clients and internal teams
- Knowledge of at least three mainstream data technologies and broader data landscape
- Proactive, adaptable in uncertain requirements/priorities
- Experience coaching or developing junior data professionals
