Job Description
Our Client in Edmonton is looking for a Data Architect!
Must Have Primary Skills
- University degree in Computer Science,Information Systems, Engineering, Geomatics, or a related field.
- 7+years of progressive experience in data architecture, data engineering, or dataintegration, with at least 3 years in a data architect role.
- Hands-onexperience designing solutions on Databricks, including Delta Lake, Spark(PySpark/SQL), and Unity Catalog.
- Strongexperience with data modelling (relational, dimensional, and lakehouseapproaches)
- Provenexperience designing enterprise integration patterns, including REST APIs,ETL/ELT, event streaming, and change data capture.
- Experiencewith cloud data platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure (Data Lake Storage, DataFactory, Event Hubs, Key Vault).
- Experiencewith ServiceNow Integration.
- Experiencein the public sector, ideally with government regulatory systems or programs.
- Experienceintegrating with geospatial platforms, and working knowledge of geospatial dataconcepts, formats, and standards.
- Workingknowledge of geospatial data concepts, formats, and standards.
- Solidunderstanding of data governance, metadata management, data quality, and datasecurity principles.
Nice To Have Secondary Skills
- Experienceworking in agile delivery teams, with experience in public sector in similarcapacity
- Excellentcommunication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts tonon-technical audiences.
Proven Experience In
- Define and maintain the target-state dataarchitecture for integrating DRAS, the Databricks Data Management Platform, andthe Alberta Geospatial Platform.
- Designconceptual, logical, and physical data models for regulatory, environmental,and geospatial data domains.
- Establishintegration patterns (batch, near-real-time, event-driven, API-based, changedata capture) suited to each use case.
- Designlakehouse structures on Databricks, including medallion (bronze/silver/gold)layers, Delta Lake tables, and Unity Catalog organization.
- Architectspatial data flows that preserve geometry, coordinate reference systems, andspatial accuracy across platforms.
