Location Address: Toronto- 3 days in-office (Potentially will increase to 4 in future)
In-office days: Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Contract Duration: 10/05/2026 to 06/04/2027 (Chance of Extension)
Schedule Hours: 9am-5pm Monday-Friday; standard 37.5 hrs/week
Story Behind the Need
Business group: Business Banking Credit Risk (BBCR) – Data & Analytics
Project: Looking for a skilled Senior Data & Business Intelligence Developer/Architect to drive data initiatives in Business Banking Credit Risk (BBCR).
This role focuses on modernizing data architecture, boosting analytics, and developing scalable, cloud-native BI solutions using Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, and Databricks.
The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience building end to end data pipelines, designing efficient data models, and developing analytical assets that meet enterprise standards for performance, governance, and reliability.
Reason : New role for a funded project.
Key Accountabilities
- Design, build, and optimize data pipelines using Power BI Premium, MS Fabric, and/or Databricks.
- Develop scalable semantic models, star schemas, and tabular models for enterprise analytics.
- Build high-quality Power BI datasets, dashboards, and reports aligned with business requirements and visual best practices.
- Implement data quality controls, lineage documentation, metadata standards, and observability metrics.
- Collaborate with business partners, data engineers, risk analysts, and architecture teams to define requirements and deliver analytical solutions.
- Support environment configuration, workspace governance, performance tuning, and capacity optimization in Power BI Premium / Fabric capacities.
- Contribute to the modernization of BBCR’s next-generation data architecture.
Must have skills:
- 7+ years in Data Engineering, BI Development, or Data/BI Architecture roles.
- Hands-on technical experience with:
- 7 years of experience with Power BI (DAX, M language, data modeling, Premium capacities). – Expert level
- 7 years of experience with SQL (advanced querying, performance tuning, stored procedures). – Expert level
- 5 years of experience with Microsoft Fabric (Data Engineering, Data Factory, Lakehouse, Warehouse, KQL). – Expert level
- 3 years of experience with Databricks (PySpark, Delta Lake, notebooks, workflow orchestration).
- Expert level experience with Data Lake file formats: Parquet, Delta, ORC, DuckDB
- Strong understanding of:
- Dimensional modeling (Kimball), semantic modeling, and data governance.
- Lakehouse and modern data architecture patterns.
- CI/CD for analytics, version control (Git), and DevOps pipelines.
- Experience working in enterprise environments with structured SDLC processes.
Nice to have:
- 1. Experience in Risk Analytics, Banking, or Credit Risk domains.
- 2. Familiarity with PowerShell, Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate), Python.
- 3. Architect and refine Lakehouse and Medallion-based data structures using Delta/Parquet/DuckDB formats.
- 4. Knowledge of Security, Privacy, and Compliance standards in financial institutions.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree level or above education, ideally in Computer science, Engineering, business, financial or technology
- Certified with MS Fabrics, Data Bricks and Power BI is nice to have.
Best VS. Average Candidate:

- 2 nd round - 30mins – In-Person Interview with HM and Senior Team member
