Overview

As Senior Data Engineer you will help shape the Operational Data Platform, delivering real-time data capabilities across applications. You will influence design decisions, standards, and patterns for the team and own delivery across multiple domains. You’ll build reusable data assets, implement monitoring and maintenance patterns, and ensure governance, cost management, and regulatory compliance. This is a hands-on leadership role with autonomy, cross-functional collaboration, and a clear impact on data-driven products at easyJet holidays.

Responsibilities
  • Lead design and delivery of the Operational Holidays Data Model and strategic approaches
  • Build reusable data assets across customer, booking, flight, transfer, and beyond with cross-team collaboration
  • Design monitoring and maintenance patterns to ensure reliability with minimal downtime
  • Prioritise and manage data engineering initiatives across multiple product and developer teams
  • Lead and develop a team of Data Engineers and platform developers, including supplier resources
  • Ensure governance and compliance across the data estate meets regulatory requirements
  • Manage platform usage and costs in liaison with the platform team
  • Support ad hoc analysis and model development as needed
Key requirements
  • Experience building and running bespoke OLTP systems with high concurrency and reliability
  • Experience with SQL tools (Postgres, DuckDB, Databricks, AWS Aurora or similar)
  • Broad experience with data streaming technologies for combining batches with real-time streams
  • Experience implementing ETL/ELT tooling (Dagster, dbt, AWS Glue, Airflow or equivalents)
  • Experience developing and maintaining API endpoints and data interfaces
  • Understanding of Node.js and TypeScript
  • Experience with AWS-based data tooling
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders to translate goals into data products
