Senior Data Engineer

About This Role

We're on the lookout for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our Insights & Enablement team within Retail Media Tech at JET. This isn't just any Senior Data Engineer role; you'll be at the heart of our retail media data platform, responsible for the infrastructure, pipelines, and data products that help advertisers understand, optimize, and grow their campaigns.

In this dynamic position, you'll work across the full stack of modern data engineering-from event streaming and attribution pipelines to Gold Layer data marts and AI-powered tooling. Collaborating closely with data scientists, analytical engineers, product managers, and ML engineers, you'll transform complex data challenges into reliable, scalable production systems.

We're building exciting projects, including:

• A TopRank Sponsored Listings data platform on BigQuery and dbt
• A semantic layer serving Tableau and Looker Studio
• Snowplow-based event attribution infrastructure
• Agentic AI tooling for Post-Campaign Analysis

As a senior member of the team, you'll not only code but also help define best practices, mentor engineers, and elevate the technical standards across the team.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable data pipelines and event streaming architectures, focusing on reliability and data quality.
• Develop and maintain Gold Layer data marts in BigQuery using dbt Core, applying top-down/bottom-up data modeling methodologies.
• Build and maintain Airflow-orchestrated ELT workflows across the retail media data platform.
• Contribute to Retail Media event tracking infrastructure and ensure data quality validation.
• Support the development of a semantic layer bridging BigQuery Gold tables to downstream BI tooling.
• Engage in architecture discussions, identifying improvement points and shaping platform-level decisions.
• Embed DataOps best practices across the team, including CI/CD, testing, and observability.
• Collaborate with ML engineers and data scientists to productionize models and AI tooling.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to technical documentation and engineering standards.

What Will You Bring to the Team?

• Demonstrable senior-level experience in building and delivering data engineering solutions.
• Strong Python skills and solid SQL experience with BigQuery or equivalent cloud data warehouses.
• Deep expertise in data pipeline design, including ETL/ELT and schema design.
• Hands-on experience with dbt Core and Airflow for orchestration and transformation.
• Solid grounding in data warehouse and data lake architecture.
• Production experience with GCP and AWS, comfortable operating across both clouds.
• Familiarity with observability tooling and a proactive approach to system health.
• Active engagement with AI/ML tooling and curiosity about how they reshape data products.
• A track record of contributing to design decisions and supporting the growth of colleagues.
• Comfortable working in a cross-functional environment, aligning with central teams.
