Overview

As a Senior Data Engineer in London, you own end-to-end critical data products on a modern Azure Databricks data platform. You partner with product teams, set standards, and shape how analytics and AI-driven data products are built. You’ll lead data engineers, drive data quality, and enable stakeholders to use data products at scale. This role sits at the heart of Pandora’s data and analytics journey, balancing speed with quality to deliver impactful insights.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with a product team to design scalable, efficient, and stable data products
  • Serve as senior sparring partner to product managers and fellow data engineers
  • Take technical ownership of complex, business-critical data products
  • Create and maintain high-quality data pipeline architectures
  • Translate requirements into design documentation and conceptual data models
  • Ingest large datasets, automate processes, optimize data delivery, and improve data quality
  • Improve observability, reliability, and data quality across pipelines and products
  • Champion a build-once-consume-many approach to maximize data product value
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to solve data-related challenges and contribute to best practices
  • Mentor other data engineers and raise engineering standards
Key requirements
  • Strong hands-on Azure Databricks and Spark in production
  • 5+ years in data or software engineering with a data focus
  • Experience designing and operating production-grade data pipelines on cloud platforms (Azure preferred)
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with analytical data models and data warehouses
  • Python proficiency (Scala a plus)
  • Solid engineering discipline with CI/CD, testing, Git, and modern DevOps for data
  • Experience delivering production-ready data products used by multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience with Azure Synapse and hybrid Databricks/Synapse architectures
  • Relevant education in CS, Math, Economics, Information Management, Statistics, or similar
  • Fluent English; Agile/Scrum experience
  • Proactive, adaptable mindset in a fast-moving AI-driven data environment
