Overview

As a Senior Data Engineer at Zego, you will design and operate scalable, secure data platforms that underpin analytics, data science, and product decisions. You’ll collaborate with Engineering, Analytics and Product to ensure reliable data infrastructure and share knowledge across the team. This hands-on role emphasizes technical excellence, code reviews, and mentoring less experienced engineers. You’ll help evolve our data architecture to support growth and strategic initiatives while contributing to a culture that values experimentation and AI-powered productivity.

Responsibilities
  • Act as a strong technical contributor within the Data Engineering team
  • Support and mentor less experienced engineers through pairing, code reviews, and knowledge sharing
  • Promote best practices in data engineering (testing, CI/CD, observability, infrastructure as code)
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable and secure data pipelines, warehouses, and streaming systems
  • Ensure data models meet analytics, data science, and operational needs
  • Evolve data architecture to support current and future business needs
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into robust technical solutions
  • Identify opportunities for optimisation, re-architecture, or tool improvements
  • Contribute to the delivery of the data engineering technical roadmap
Key requirements
  • 4+ years as a Data Engineer in scalable data platforms
  • Experience designing/building/operating ETL/ELT pipelines and large-scale data architectures
  • Hands-on with modern data stack: Python, SQL, Snowflake, Apache Iceberg, AWS S3, PostgresDB, Airflow, dbt, Apache Spark
  • Experience deployed via AWS, Docker, Terraform
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into business value
  • Experience mentoring through code reviews and pairing
