In this role, you will lead the development and operation of Menzies’ GCP data warehouse, creating a trusted, secure data foundation for reporting, automation, and AI. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to enable smarter decision-making and scalable data products. The position sits in the Innovation Team, blending technical excellence with a people-centric culture. You will shape data platforms at scale and contribute to a data-enabled, secure, compliant environment across the firm.

- Design and deliver scalable data pipelines into BigQuery from diverse data sources
- Shape the GCP engineering approach using BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Datastream, Cloud Composer/Airflow, Terraform
- Set high engineering standards for data modelling, dbt transformations, testing, monitoring, documentation, deployment, version control and cost optimization
- Partner with teams to turn business needs into reusable data products from internal and external sources
- Embed security, governance and data quality by design with data lineage, GDPR compliance, least-privilege access and handling of sensitive data
- Provide technical leadership: review designs and code, mentor engineers and analysts, raise engineering standards
- Enable data to drive business value by making warehouse outputs accessible via Power BI, automation, AI agents and internal apps
- Evaluate tech and integration options, balance build vs buy for value, security, scalability and cost
- Champion data enablement and help colleagues access and use data safely
- Help shape the Innovation Team roadmap towards strategic, repeatable platforms that deliver firm-wide value
- 5+ years in data engineering/analytics engineering or data platform roles at senior/leadership level
- Advanced SQL and Python for production-grade data solutions
- Strong experience with BigQuery and broader GCP ecosystem
- Experience with Airflow/Cloud Composer, dbt, Git/GitHub, CI/CD, Terraform or similar IaC tooling
- Solid understanding of data modelling, dimensional modelling, orchestration, testing, data quality and monitoring
- Experience designing/operating production data pipelines from APIs, databases, files, webhooks and message queues
- Strong data security/governance knowledge (GDPR, RBAC, secrets management) and handling of sensitive data
- Ability to translate ambiguous business challenges into pragmatic, scalable tech solutions
- Excellent communication and stakeholder skills; capable of explaining complex concepts to non-technical audiences
