Overview

In this role you will lead key components of data platform design and delivery within AECOM's Digital team. You will mentor junior engineers and ensure robust, scalable, and compliant data architectures across multiple projects. You’ll drive end-to-end data processes, collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, and advance governance, monitoring, and integration within broader digital ecosystems. This is a hands-on opportunity to shape data solutions at scale for high-impact infrastructure programs.

Responsibilities
  • Lead data solution lifecycle across ingestion, transformation, modelling and integration for external projects
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers
  • Facilitate workshops and requirements sessions with stakeholders and clients
  • Collaborate with data analysts/scientists to support analytics and feature engineering
  • Ensure data governance, metadata management, access controls, data lineage, and compliance
  • Develop monitoring and alerting strategies for reliability and performance
  • Prototype emerging technologies and support deployment of predictive analytics
  • Coach teams on best practices, CI/CD, and documentation standards
  • Oversee integration of data solutions within wider digital ecosystems
Key requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python preferred; Scala/Java/C# beneficial)
  • Strong SQL and data warehousing concepts
  • Experience with data modelling (dimensional, star/snowflake, data vault)
  • Designing and operating ETL/ELT pipelines and modern orchestration tools (Airflow, ADF, Azure Functions)
  • Cloud-based data engineering at scale with strong client-facing and collaboration skills
