Senior Data Engineer

As Engineering Manager, you will lead and scale a data engineering team to deliver reliable data pipelines and architectures that power data-driven decision making. You will partner with data scientists, product managers and engineers to translate business needs into scalable data solutions, ensuring quality, security, and governance. You will define best practices, drive infrastructure improvements across cloud platforms and big data tools, and mentor a high-performing team to deliver impactful data products. This role combines leadership with hands-on architecture and delivery, within WPP’s data-driven environment.

• Lead, mentor and grow a high-performing data engineering team
• Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines and architectures
• Oversee ETL/ELT, data warehousing and data lake initiatives
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Ensure data quality, security and governance across workflows
• Define and promote engineering standards and best practices
• Drive continuous improvement using cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and big data tools (Spark, dbt)
• Coordinate with PMs to manage timelines, resources and deliverables
• Ensure regulatory compliance and data privacy with governance teams
• Stay current with data engineering trends and technologies

• 7+ years in data engineering or software engineering
• at least 3 years in leadership/management
• strong expertise in data pipelines, ETL/ELT and data warehousing
• proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and big data tools (Apache Spark, Python)
• experience with relational and NoSQL databases
• understanding of data modeling and data architecture
• proven ability to lead and scale engineering teams and manage cross-functional projects
