Senior Data Engineer

As a Senior Data Engineer at Moneybox, you own and shape the data platform, guiding architecture and engineering standards. You’ll work closely with the Data Engineering lead to set direction and deliver reliable, scalable data pipelines. The role combines hands-on implementation with broad influence across Engineering and Insight, emphasizing autonomy and pragmatic decision-making. You’ll partner with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate data models, quality, and secure, compliant data handling. • Act as a senior technical partner, owning platform continuity across the data stack
• Set technical direction and priorities for Data Engineering
• Own and improve core data processing and analytical platforms for reliability, scalability, and resilience
• Design, build and maintain robust data pipelines and integrations across Moneybox systems
• Lead significant data architecture and integration changes
• Ingest new data sources and make them available to analytical platforms
• Partner with Backend Engineering and Insight to maintain reliable data models
• Promote engineering practices around pipelines, modelling, observability, performance and reliability
• Ensure data quality and integrity throughout pipelines
• Provide technical guidance to engineers and analysts
• Collaborate with Security and Compliance to handle analytical data securely
• Monitor and optimize performance, efficiency, and cost of data processing
• Own complex technical problems and drive to resolution
• Stay up to date with data engineering developments and explore value-adding technologies
• Contribute to the wider engineering community at Moneybox

• Designing, building and operating scalable production data pipelines
• Strong ETL/ELT understanding
• Programming and data transformation with Python, Spark and SQL
• Experience with cloud-based data platforms
• Designing for reliability, observability, performance and data quality
• Solid data modelling knowledge
