Senior Data Engineer

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will design, develop and optimise enterprise-scale data platforms and pipelines that support major projects and analytics. You work within multidisciplinary teams to deliver robust, scalable, and secure data solutions enabling reporting, transformation, and data-driven decision-making. You’ll translate business needs into sustainable data architectures while upholding governance and security practices. This role offers impact across programmes and a chance to advance data engineering standards at Arcadis.

• Design, develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and transformations across multiple data sources
• Lead the implementation and optimisation of Microsoft Fabric and cloud-based data engineering solutions
• Build and maintain enterprise data products, data models, and datasets for reporting and analytics
• Establish data quality, validation and assurance frameworks to ensure data accuracy
• Collaborate with project teams and stakeholders to define data requirements and deliverables
• Drive automation and process improvement, adopting industry best practices
• Ensure compliance with information management, data governance, cyber security and data privacy standards
• Provide guidance to project teams in data-related troubleshooting and technical leadership
• Produce technical documentation, architecture diagrams, standards and procedures
• Support junior team members through mentoring and knowledge sharing
• Contribute to enterprise data engineering standards, frameworks, and reusable solutions
• Support solution architecture, platform design and strategic data initiatives across programmes and business functions

• Proven experience delivering data engineering solutions in complex environments
• Strong experience in ETL/ELT pipelines, data integration and structured data platforms
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Services, SQL, Power BI or equivalent
• Strong understanding of data modelling, metadata management and data architecture
• Experience implementing data quality, governance and assurance practices
• Experience supporting reporting, analytics, and BI solutions
• Understanding of information security, cyber security and data protection in enterprise settings
• Ability to gather requirements from stakeholders and translate into technical solutions
• Capacity to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outputs on schedule
• Desirable: experience in engineering/infrastructure/PMO contexts; cloud-native architectures; DevOps/CI/CD; DataOps; Python/Spark/Databricks; AI or advanced analytics initiatives
