Overview

In this role you will own and shape Rightmove’s data platform, focusing on ingestion, processing and serving data at scale on a modern GCP stack. You’ll lead cross-functional data projects, build reusable tooling, and promote engineering best practices in a collaborative data engineering culture. You will drive architectural decisions, improve performance and cost efficiency, and empower teams with reliable data workflows. This is an impact-driven opportunity to help a widely-used property tech platform deliver data-driven insights at scale.

Responsibilities
  • Define technical direction for complex data challenges with high impact
  • Lead end-to-end cross-functional data projects from requirements to delivery
  • Design and build data platform infrastructure and internal tooling
  • Evolve reusable batch and real-time data ingestion and processing frameworks
  • Manage infrastructure, security and deployment with Terraform and CI/CD
  • Optimize performance, scalability, and cost of the data platform
  • Champion engineering best practices including testing, documentation and observability
  • Partner with engineers, data scientists and analytics to enable self-service data workflows
Key requirements
  • Strong track record delivering data engineering or data platform initiatives at scale
  • Ability to operate in ambiguity and drive cross-functional projects to completion
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL
  • Deep hands-on experience with GCP and Terraform
  • Experience designing and operating production-grade data pipelines and real-time processing
  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines for data and infrastructure
  • Track record of elevating technical standards through reviews and improvements
  • Knowledge of GDPR and data security best practices
  • Understanding of data storage, modeling principles and tools (e.g. dbt)
