Overview

In this role you will own end-to-end data-platform delivery, focusing on Microsoft Fabric and the Azure Data Platform. You’ll collaborate with architects, analysts and clients to transform designs into secure, scalable solutions, mentor engineers and drive production-grade deployments. The position sits within Agilisys’ Data & AI Practice and supports moving legacy platforms to modern, governed data capabilities. The role offers hands-on delivery, governance, and opportunities to influence engineering standards in the public sector context.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver Fabric and Azure data platforms end to end, building and productionising data solutions with Fabric components
  • Engineer reliable data pipelines and models using batch, incremental and near-real-time ETL/ELT
  • Own Dev/Test/Production delivery with CI/CD, including Git-based promotions and release governance
  • Implement secure-by-design controls and governance (Entra ID, RBAC, Purview) in collaboration with governance specialists
  • Tune and monitor production workloads, diagnose failures and ensure data quality and performance
  • Support Power BI consumption and governance, enabling semantic models and optimized data delivery
  • Lead engineering delivery and handover with clear documentation and knowledge transfer
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and mentor engineers to align with architecture and engineering standards
Key requirements
  • 5+ years of commercial data engineering experience at senior level with strong recent Fabric delivery
  • Proven Fabric experience across OneLake, Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Pipelines, Notebooks, and workspace patterns
  • Advanced SQL, Python and PySpark; experience with Delta/Parquet and medallion architecture
  • Git and CI/CD experience (Azure DevOps and/or GitHub) with controlled release and rollback
  • Azure data-platform experience including Azure Data Factory and secure connectivity patterns
  • Power BI integration knowledge (Direct Lake/Import, refresh, RLS/OLS, performance considerations)
  • Microsoft Entra ID, RBAC and secure engineering, plus runbooks and documentation
  • Strong stakeholder management, mentoring, and communication; experience in fast-moving, multidisciplinary teams
  • Public-sector/local government or regulated environment experience and security clearance eligibility
