Overview

In this role you will translate the data governance strategy into a sequenced delivery plan and lead governance change initiatives end-to-end. You will coordinate across data engineers, domain leads, system owners and data owners to ensure accountable progress and durable ownership at handover. You will partner with senior stakeholders to prepare consultancy-style papers, influence decisions, and strengthen data governance literacy across the business. The role combines strategy execution, governance operations, and evidence-based reporting to senior leadership, with a focus on data quality, lineage, and privacy obligations.

Responsibilities
  • Translate strategy into a delivery roadmap, own prioritization, define success measures, and report progress to senior leadership
  • Deliver governance change initiatives end-to-end, build the case for change, secure decisions and funding, and drive implementation and adoption
  • Coordinate across data engineers, domain leads, system owners and data owners, unblock progress, and establish clear ownership upon handover
  • Partner with senior business stakeholders to prepare papers and presentations and influence governance outcomes
  • Develop and share data governance knowledge, guidance, and briefings to raise literacy and stewardship across domains
  • Run Data Domain Forums: prepare agendas, capture decisions, track actions, and escalate where needed
  • Prepare papers for the Data Governance Board and support governance initiatives like retention/classification, driving actions to closure
  • Support governance, privacy, and security obligations with policy translation to system requirements and implementation
  • Build out governance framework and operating model: domain structure, roles, escalation, policies and standards, and cross-business championing
  • Use SQL and Power BI to interrogate data, validate evidence, and quality-assure governance reporting
  • Define master data, lineage, and catalogue requirements with domain leads, keeping definitions fit for purpose as needs evolve
  • Prioritise data quality checks, manage the backlog, and drive remediation with owners, reporting progress to forums and the Board
