Senior Data Scientist – Renewable & Load Forecasting (Contract, Onsite – Juno Beach, FL)

Synergy Business Consulting is hiring a Senior Data Scientist for a leading Florida energy client. The work is building and productionizing forecasting models for wind (primary), solar and load . It’s a contract through September 2027, fully onsite in Juno Beach.

What you’ll do

• Build and improve wind, solar and load forecasts, from feature engineering and backtesting through deployment and monitoring
• Benchmark weather/NWP providers on accuracy, latency, coverage and redundancy, then recommend a core provider set, blending and fallback logic
• Root-cause forecast misses (weather vs. model vs. data vs. operations: curtailment, outages, derates)
• Build pipelines for weather, SCADA and telemetry data, plus Streamlit/Plotly performance dashboards

What you bring

• Advanced Python (pandas, scikit-learn, statsmodels, LightGBM/XGBoost) and strong SQL
• Production experience with time-series, ensemble xhqgsiq and probabilistic/quantile forecasting
• Hands-on work with weather APIs, NWP forecasts and SCADA/telemetry
• AWS (S3, Lambda, ECS, Step Functions, SageMaker) or similar; Git and testing discipline

Nice to have: utility-scale wind forecasting, turbine power curves, ISO/RTO or trading exposure, intra-hour to multi-day horizons
