Senior Data Scientist, Payment Intelligence

In this role you will own the end-to-end development of production-grade ML models that improve payment success and prevent payer fraud across GoCardless’ global network. You’ll work with Software Engineers, Product Managers, and Designers to translate big ideas into scalable solutions, leveraging GCP/Vertex AI to deploy models at scale. You’ll shape the model lifecycle from discovery to monitoring and actively advance fraud prevention capabilities. This role offers impact at fintech scale and a clear path to technical leadership.

• Lead end-to-end model delivery at scale from discovery to production and monitoring
• Collaborate with product and engineering to deliver real-time fraud prevention solutions
• Raise the team's technical bar through hands-on leadership and knowledge sharing
• Proactively research and integrate the latest ML developments to drive innovation

• Degree in a STEM discipline or equivalent commercial experience
• Hands-on experience with architectures such as deep learning, graph-based, or sequence-based models
• Experience in fintech, fraud prevention, or payments is a big plus
• Ability to translate ML concepts into practical product solutions and communicate with non-technical peers
• Ownership of full lifecycle from analysis and feature engineering to prototyping and live A/B testing
• Proven track record of writing clean, production-grade code and sharing best practices
