Overview

In this role you will drive the UK & Ireland development pipeline from early stage to financial close, ensuring bankable projects aligned with targets. You’ll coordinate cross-functional workstreams to exceed margin expectations and continuously improve team processes. You’ll manage stakeholder negotiations on land rights, permits, and PPAs, while representing Lightsource bp at events. This position offers visibility into strategy, financing, and project delivery within a fast-growing renewable company.

Responsibilities
  • Lead development and close transactions across multiple workstreams to achieve timely, margin-aligned outcomes
  • Manage stakeholder negotiations with DNOs, landowners, EPC, ICP, and internal teams
  • Oversee meetings and communications to drive efficiency and reporting to peers and executives
  • Run financial models and use market indicators to negotiate terms meeting margin requirements
  • Provide forecasting of project cashflows and budget alignment
  • Liaise to prepare and present budget requests to Executive Management Committee and Investment Committee
  • Assist with property reporting and negotiations of ICP/EPC contracts as needed
  • Represent Lightsource bp in community and company events to convey development acumen
  • Provide line management to up to 1–2 staff including development of goals and performance reviews
  • Deliver timely market intelligence on projects, trends, and competitors
Key requirements
  • Broad knowledge of the full solar development life cycle
  • Essential understanding of Option to Lease/land rights
  • Essential understanding of UK grid and DNO relationships
  • Experience with project finance and financial modelling terms
  • Excellent written and verbal English
  • Understanding of renewables, energy, and environmental issues in UK/EU
  • Knowledge of Private Wire and Corporate PPAs
  • Minimum 5 years in Solar and BESS development
  • Strong track record of closing deals and managing cross-functional projects
  • M&A experience is beneficial
