Senior DevOps Engineer

Salary: up to £85k p/annum

Location: Central London (limited travel ad hoc)

We’re looking for an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join a high-performing technology team supporting a large-scale eCommerce and digital estate .

You’ll take ownership of production and non-production environments, deployment pipelines, monitoring and operational excellence, while working closely with development, IT and third-party partners to deliver secure, resilient and scalable digital services .

Key Responsibilities

• Own and improve CI/CD pipelines across Azure DevOps and GitHub.
• Support and optimise production environments, resolving complex incidents and problems.
• Drive monitoring, observability, performance and reliability improvements.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Pulumi or ARM.
• Work closely with development teams to ensure applications are designed for live supportability.
• Implement automation, proactive monitoring and preventative improvements.
• Support release, change and service transition activities.
• Promote DevOps, Agile and ITIL best practices across the team.
• Mentor colleagues and contribute to technical standards and continuous improvement.
• Ensure solutions meet relevant security, GDPR and PCI DSS requirements.

Key Technical Skills

• Strong Microsoft Azure experience across IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, serverless and containers.
• Strong CI/CD experience with Azure DevOps and/or GitHub.
• Infrastructure as Code – Terraform, Pulumi or ARM.
• Scripting with PowerShell, Python, YAML and/or TypeScript.
• Strong understanding of networking, DNS, routing, firewalls and load balancing.
• Experience with microservices and high-traffic web environments.
• Monitoring/observability experience with Dynatrace, Catchpoint or similar.
• Knowledge of CDNs, WAF, OWASP and application security.
• Experience supporting web/mobile applications, ideally within retail or eCommerce.
• Understanding of .NET, React/Vue and modern web technologies.
• Experience with databases and application performance optimisation.

Desirable

• Azure DevOps or Azure Architecture certification.
• Experience with ITIL / ISO27001.
• Azure MLOps / operationalising machine-learning models.
• Experience integrating AI/agent-based solutions into enterprise environments.
• Experience with Akamai or similar CDN platforms.
