Overview

In this role you will provide specialist data engineering, cloud infrastructure and BI enablement to support cancer information and intelligence across the Cancer Alliance. You will design and maintain secure, scalable data solutions and pipelines from multiple sources to power reporting and analytics. You will work across NHS partners to advance modern data and analytics capabilities and ensure governance and standards. A key focus is translating requirements into technical solutions that support decision-making and service improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Design, build and operate data platforms and pipelines to support analytics and reporting
  • Integrate data from multiple sources and ensure data quality and governance
  • Collaborate with cross-organisational teams to deliver scalable data solutions
  • Translate business needs into technical specifications and architectures
  • Ensure secure, well-governed data solutions and compliance with NHS information standards
  • Support development of modern data and analytics capabilities across the Cancer Alliance
Key requirements
  • Degree (or equivalent experience) in a technical, digital, data engineering or computing discipline
  • Strong understanding of modern cloud-based data platforms and analytics delivery
  • Significant experience in NHS or public sector digital/data platform roles
  • Experience designing, building and operating data platforms and data engineering solutions
  • Experience with data integration, modeling, validation and performance optimization
  • Excellent technical communication and documentation skills
  • Practical experience with Microsoft Fabric, including data pipelines, Lakehouse/Warehouse concepts, semantic models or Power BI integration
  • Experience across organisational boundaries in complex systems
  • Leading technical workstreams or platform components
