As a Senior Digital Engineer, you will lead and deliver high-quality web solutions across Hastings' systems, guiding fellow engineers and shaping technical direction. You’ll work in agile teams to support the full software development lifecycle, balancing performance, reliability, and user experience. The role sits within the CIO function, driving innovation and enhancing our digital presence to improve customer engagement. You’ll operate in a collaborative, growth-focused culture (the 4Cs) and contribute to scalable, enterprise-grade web applications. Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership and manage stakeholder expectations
  • Design, build, and modify complex software systems per standards
  • Estimate engineering tasks and guide peers for timely delivery
  • Debug and test complex code to ensure performance and reliability
  • Mentor junior team members and support their growth
  • Work across all stages of the software development lifecycle within agile teams
  • Collaborate on application support and change management
  • Shape technical direction and help deliver high-quality solutions
Key requirements
  • Experience in supporting and developing enterprise-level, customer- and employee-facing web applications
  • Expertise in JavaScript with a strong focus on React JS
  • UI/UX development experience with emphasis on usability
  • Strong front-end tech stack: HTML/HTML5, XML, DHTML, CSS/CSS3, SASS/LESS, JavaScript, React JS, Redux, Flex, jQuery, JSON, Bootstrap
  • Solid understanding of JavaScript fundamentals and JSX
  • Experience with ReactJS workflows (Flux, Redux, Create React App) and data structure libraries
  • Knowledge of RESTful APIs and token-based authentication (e.g., JWT)
  • Familiarity with frontend tools like Node, NPM, CI/CD, DevOps practices, and testing frameworks (Jest, React Testing Library)
