Senior Director, Semantic Platform Enablement

In this role, you will lead the design and enterprise enablement of AstraZeneca’s semantic platform to ensure data is consistently understood and reusable by humans and AI. You will define the semantic foundation, establish canonical entities, and drive a federated mesh across domains to accelerate AI-enabled innovation. You’ll partner with product, programme, and domain leaders to translate data products into practical, scalable semantics that deliver real business value. - Define and execute the semantic platform strategy to enable shared meaning and reuse across data products and enterprise initiatives
- Deliver a core semantic layer with initial models, canonical entities, and reference data approaches for priority use cases
- Build and scale an enterprise semantic mesh and evolve toward a federated model across domains
- Align semantic architecture with real-world use cases by partnering with product, programme, and domain leaders
- Integrate structured and unstructured data to enhance context, discoverability, and usability of enterprise information assets
- Provide architectural governance and ensure consistency with enterprise data standards
- Manage external partner engagement to accelerate implementation and quality outcomes
- Extensive experience in enterprise data architecture, semantic technologies, or knowledge-based platforms
- Experience applying the W3C semantic data stack to develop semantic knowledge graphs at scale
- Deep understanding of semantic layer design, ontologies, taxonomies, canonical modelling, and machine-readable business meaning
- Ability to enable interoperability across data products, platforms, and domains with cross-functional alignment
- Proven track record leading platform delivery and scaling adoption in federated or multi-domain environments
- Strong partner leadership and influencing skills across senior business, product, data, and tech communities
- Experience enabling and influencing a federated community of data and domain experts
