Senior Director Technology - Cloud Engineering

In this Senior Director, Cloud Engineering role you lead Travelport’s cloud platform strategy, focused on AWS, automation, resilience, and secure, cost-aware operations. You’ll guide a strong engineering team to onboard products, enforce IaC and CI/CD practices, and enable AI and data workloads in production. Your leadership strengthens platform standards, observability, and 24/7 support while partnering with cross-functional teams to meet demand and scale responsibly. • Define and lead the cloud engineering strategy for the Travelport platform with emphasis on AWS, automation, resilience, security, and cost.
• Build and enforce engineering standards for infrastructure as code, CI/CD, AWS account management, platform guardrails, and developer enablement.
• Improve the platform's operational model, including observability, incident response, reliability, and 24/7 support coverage.
• Collaborate with Product and Commercial teams to anticipate demand changes and capacity planning.
• Partner with Data Strategy, Architecture, Infrastructure and Cyber teams to support AI, data lakes, data engineering, identity, security and GenAI production use cases.
• Define how the platform scales AI workloads in a cost-aware, secure, and reliable manner.
• Lead cloud cost management and capacity planning influencing AWS spend.
• Challenge platform norms to reduce complexity, risk, and cost.

• Led cloud/infra engineering teams operating high-scale production systems on AWS.
• Strong practical knowledge of distributed systems, IaC, automated deployment pipelines, cloud security, observability, and operational reliability.
• Experience in cloud cost management, budgeting, and capacity at scale and understanding AWS spend drivers.
• Exposure to AI/ML platform needs, data engineering, and cloud data platforms to guide architecture decisions.
• AWS Bedrock or production GenAI experience is valuable.
• Ability to operate at senior leadership level while remaining hands-on enough to challenge decisions.
• Proven ability to build strong engineering teams, set clear standards, and improve delivery without excessive process.
