Job Title: Senior .Net Developer in Betting and Gambling Firm
Job Type: Perm
Location: 2 Days in a Week in Manchester M2 4JG
This role does not offer sponsorship
A major digital consumer-facing platform in Manchester is hiring a Senior .NET Developer to help improve and evolve a live, business-critical technology estate.
This is not babysitting a legacy estate with no roadmap. The platform is live, commercially important and actively being improved, with a real focus on performance, reliability, scalability and technical quality.
You’ll be working across C#/.NET, Web API, WCF, SQL/NoSQL, caching, messaging, Windows Services and performance optimisation, with a healthy mix of new feature development and improvement work across existing systems.
The role suits someone who enjoys proper backend/platform engineering. Someone who can take ownership of work from development through to production, improve what already exists, and work closely with Lead Developers to raise the quality of how software is built and supported.
What you’ll be doing
- Building and improving features across C#/.NET applications
- Working with Web API, WCF, SQL/NoSQL and backend services
- Improving performance, reliability and maintainability across live systems
- Supporting integrations, internal services and platform improvements
- Working with Lead Developers on standards, design and technical quality
- Owning developments through testing, release and production support
What they’re looking for
- Strong commercial experience with C#/.NET
- Experience with Web API, REST services and WCF
- Strong database experience across SQL Server, MySQL or NoSQL
- Comfortable working with legacy systems, Windows Services or established .NET estates
- Exposure to caching, messaging, distributed systems or performance tuning
- Git, Agile/Kanban and a practical delivery mindset
- Someone who improves systems properly, rather than trying to rewrite everything because they got bored
The honest sell
This is not shiny greenfield fantasy land, and that is exactly why it is interesting.
It is a stable, high-volume platform where the work is about improving systems that already matter commercially. If someone likes .NET, APIs, performance, legacy improvement and production ownership, this is a strong move.
