Senior Embedded Software Engineer

In this embedded software role, you design and implement software for CesiumAstro’s aerospace devices, spanning from low-level drivers to end-user applications. You will work on Linux-based SBCs and high-reliability microcontrollers, shaping products from concept to production and in-orbit support. You’ll collaborate with hardware teams and participate in proposals and design reviews, communicating across the organization. This position offers hands-on, autonomous work in a dynamic cross-functional environment with a clear impact on rapid integration of our products into customers’ systems.
Responsibilities- Design and implement software for embedded devices from requirements to deployment
- Develop, code, test, debug, and document system software
- Review code and system designs
- Analyze code for efficiency, stability, and scalability
- Integrate and validate new product designs
- Support software quality assurance and optimize IO performance
- Provide post-production/in-orbit customer support
- Interface with hardware design and development engineers
- Assess third‑party and open‑source software
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering
- 4+ years in software development
- Hands-on development and troubleshooting of embedded hardware
- API design for interfacing with FPGAs
- Experience with aerospace products
- C or C++ programming
- Embedded systems design with real-time preemptive multitasking OS (RT Linux desirable)
- Familiarity with software configuration management and defect tracking
- Excellent knowledge of real-time coding techniques, IP protocols, and hardware subsystems
- Strong multi-threaded programming and resource management skills
