Senior Embedded Software Engineer

Overview

As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer on the Platform team, you will develop and maintain embedded firmware for satellite systems. You will work across engineering groups to shape architecture and system design, addressing on-orbit and on-ground issues. You’ll optimize serial protocols and create interface tools to better connect embedded components with satellite hardware. In this fast-paced, mission-driven environment, you help accelerate the design-to-launch cycle and support current and future spacecraft capabilities. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, scalable software that enables reliable space operations.

• Design, implement, test, deploy and maintain embedded firmware
• Collaborate on scoping, architecture and system design
• Resolve embedded systems issues on orbit and ground
• Implement, optimize and maintain serial protocols
• Develop interface tools to improve abstraction between embedded systems and satellite components
• Debug complex embedded systems issues and document technical work

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
• Mastery of Embedded C programming
• Proficiency with Python and Bash
• Extensive experience with RTOS, specifically FreeRTOS
• Familiarity with serial protocols
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
• Experience with Git
• Experience developing on Linux (Ubuntu)
• Engineering mathematics knowledge
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
