Overview

In this role you will enable Unity’s real-time 3D runtime to run on Android-based automotive platforms, shaping the graphics and platform stack for multi-screen HMIs. You’ll work within a small, senior team to ship production-grade integrations and drive performance on constrained automotive hardware. You’ll partner with OEMs to investigate issues, unblock deployments, and influence Android/AAOS integration in the vehicle. This is a high-impact opportunity to define embedded Android support for Unity in the automotive domain.

Responsibilities
  • Bring Unity runtime to Android in the vehicle and strengthen platform support across Android/AOSP, AAOS, Linux, and QNX
  • Integrate Unity into native Android apps (Unity as a Library and Unity Render Service) and develop the graphics/windowing layer for multi-screen cockpits
  • Profile and optimize performance on constrained automotive SoCs, focusing on startup/load times, memory, and runtime efficiency
  • Collaborate directly with automotive OEMs as a technical point of contact, diagnose issues, remove bottlenecks, and enable production success
  • Raise engineering bar through design discussions, code reviews, and automated tests
Key requirements
  • C/C++/C# proficiency on Linux/Android with multi-threaded systems
  • Hands-on Android/AOSP development across app and platform layers (HALs, AIDL, Soong/Blueprint)
  • Experience with Vulkan/OpenGL ES and the Android graphics stack (SurfaceFlinger, HWComposer, Gralloc, EGL)
  • Performance profiling and optimization on resource-constrained hardware (CPU/GPU/IO)
  • Strong English communication for direct customer collaboration
