Senior Embedded Software Engineer Spacecraft

Design embedded software for spacecraft and ground systems remotely across Canada or the United States, using C/C++ and embedded Linux.

This senior contract role supports a growing fleet of satellites through software development and maintenance. You will influence design and operation while building reliable systems. The work includes secure communications, low-level components, automated testing, and architecture collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop embedded software for spacecraft and ground-based systems
• Implement encryption, authentication, and key exchange capabilities
• Build device drivers, kernel modules, and hardware interfaces
• Create automated tests, validation tools, and technical documentation
• Participate in architecture, design, and code reviews

Requirements:

• Six or more years developing embedded software for reliable systems
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
• Proficiency in C/C++ embedded concurrency and hardware communication
• Experience with embedded Linux, RTOS, Yocto, or FreeRTOS
• Experience with Git workflows and code reviews
