Senior Engineer

As a Senior Engineer in the Journey Lab squad, you will shape and own complex product work from discovery to production. You’ll collaborate with product and design to convert ambiguity into clear technical plans, make pragmatic architectural decisions, and drive end-to-end delivery. You’ll mentor engineers, raise the bar on delivery quality, and contribute to a product-led engineering culture. This UK-based, fully remote role blends hands-on building with strategic influence, with monthly travel to London.

• Lead complex product work from shaping to production deployment
• Turn ambiguous problems into clear technical approaches and delivery plans
• Collaborate with product leadership, design, and squad to shape user-focused solutions
• Provide engineering judgement early to clarify gaps, risks, and trade-offs
• Make pragmatic architectural decisions and justify reasoning
• Design/build maintainable, testable, and scalable solutions
• Own delivery quality and ensure production-readiness
• Lead debugging for complex issues and identify systemic problems
• Create clear technical plans and pull requests explaining reasoning
• Mentor engineers through pairing, code reviews, and stretch opportunities
• Improve engineering practices, product judgement, and delivery effectiveness
• Use AI tools thoughtfully (Cursor, Claude Code) while maintaining ownership of code quality
• Communicate technical concepts and trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Contribute to hiring and onboarding activities

• Sustained track record operating at Senior Engineer level
• Ability to lead complex and ambiguous product work from shaping through production
• Strong technical judgement with architectural trade-offs and debt management
• Experience with modern web technologies: SvelteKit, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, AWS, Kubernetes, Docker
• Genuine product curiosity and collaboration with product/design
• Evidence of impact beyond code, e.g., mentoring and improving team practices
• Excellent cross-functional communication skills
• Confident use of AI development tools (Cursor, Claude Code) while maintaining code ownership
