Overview
In this role you will lead the design, methodology, programme and cost planning for shaft and headhouse works within the HS2 context. You will prepare for delivery, oversee resources and provide guidance to the site team and sub-contractors. You will ensure progress aligns with contract, budget and design requirements while upholding health, safety and environmental standards. You will collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to drive safe, compliant and efficient project execution.
Responsibilities- Develop design, construction methodology, programme and cost for assigned area
- Prepare for delivery including resources, procurement, consents and pre-start docs
- Supervise and mentor site team and subcontractors
- Review contracts, develop site-specific programmes and forecast budgets; report variances
- Manage subcontractors' accounts in coordination with QS team
- Requisition resources to avoid schedule delays
- Communicate non-conformances to Construction Manager, QA and QS teams
- Maintain comprehensive daily site diary with changes, attendance and discussions
- Ensure ITPs, risk assessments and method statements are implemented
- Adhere to Health & Safety and Environmental policies and Safety Management System requirements
- Liaise with Construction Manager, Design/Engineering, QA and Cost Control; coordinate with HS2, subcontractors and stakeholders
- Implement Client and JV Environment and Sustainability policies and statutory requirements on the project
- Degree level qualification in Civil Engineering or equivalent (or HND in Civil Engineering)
- Knowledge of construction techniques, sequencing and best practice
- Knowledge of construction contracts and ability to apply them
- Ability to use initiative and progress works independently while collaborating with the team
- Computer competence (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Document Control Systems, AutoCAD)
- Excellent communication skills and adaptable communication style
