Overview

As a Senior Platform Engineer at Trainline, you will help deliver scalable, reliable, and secure infrastructure that serves multiple teams across the business. You’ll evolve our infrastructure with Terraform and cloud best practices, aligning with security-by-default standards. You will mentor mid-level engineers and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to shape delivery plans. Responsibilities
  • Deliver complex improvements to the engineering platform to support scalable, reliable, and secure infrastructure
  • Implement and evolve infrastructure changes using Terraform and leverage existing module patterns
  • Apply least-privilege and secure-by-default principles across AWS accounts
  • Build or contribute to automation scripts and tooling using Node.js or Python
  • Support and review the work of mid-level engineers and foster confidence in delivery
  • Collaborate with Tech Leads, Delivery Managers and cross-functional stakeholders to shape plans and manage dependencies
  • Identify risks, blockers or quality concerns early to keep delivery on track
  • Test, validate and deploy infrastructure changes through CI/CD pipelines with robust documentation and production readiness
Key requirements
  • Strong experience with AWS services (ECS, Lambda, IAM, CloudFront) and security best practices
  • Proven experience delivering infrastructure changes using Terraform in large-scale environments
  • Ability to work independently on complex platform engineering problems while communicating clearly
  • Experience with Node.js or Python for automation or integration work
  • Understanding of secure cloud design, least privilege, account structure, and service-to-service authentication (OIDC)
  • Experience using AI tooling to support engineering work
  • Track record delivering outcomes in agile, delivery-focused teams
  • Experience with multi-account/multi-region AWS, CDN, WAF, and enterprise-scale AWS environments
  • Clear communication and collaboration
