Overview

As Engineer for Engineering Platform Access, you will build and maintain a secure, scalable Linux VDI environment (ETX) that enables global engineering teams to access high-performance compute. You’ll work with cross-functional peers to improve availability, security, and user experience while automating operations. This role focuses on deploying robust infrastructure, incident analysis, and evolving self-service workflows to reduce toil. Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain a secure, scalable Linux VDI environment (ETX)
  • Develop, deploy, and improve infrastructure for the VDI solution
  • Ensure availability, security, performance, and good user experience
  • Perform root cause analysis and lead post-incident reviews
  • Automate operations to reduce toil and enhance monitoring/self-service
  • Contribute to evolution of engineering access services via policy-aware automation and AI-assisted operations

Key requirements
  • Strong Linux systems experience in distributed/production/HPC environments
  • Experience with Linux VDI/remote visualization platforms (ETX, Citrix) and related protocols (ThinX, HDX, PCoIP)
  • Scripting/automation in Python, Bash; automation with Ansible; IaC with Terraform; GitLab CI/CD; REST APIs
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure, OpenStack) and secrets management (Vault)
  • Familiarity with HPC workload managers (IBM Spectrum LSF) or similar
  • Experience implementing monitoring/observability (Dynatrace, Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch, Splunk, CloudWatch)
  • Understanding of incident response, root-cause analysis, documentation, and continuous improvement
  • Knowledge of production support practices and reducing operational toil
  • Familiarity with enterprise engineering access platforms
