Senior Engineering Manager – Compressor Technical Authority

Overview

In this senior role, you will own the engineering strategy and innovation for Compressors within Sulzer Services across Europe & Africa. You’ll lead technical excellence, coordinate global experts and external partners, and drive growth through high‑quality repair, retrofit and reverse‑engineering solutions. You will shape engineering governance, identify risks and opportunities, and build regional capabilities. This position offers regional impact with global visibility in a collaborative, engineering‑driven culture. You will work to advance Sulzer’s mission by delivering robust, compliant, and innovative solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Lead engineering strategy and innovation for Compressors within Services EUA
  • Coordinate support from global Sulzer specialist teams and external partners
  • Develop and grow engineering competencies to support current and future service needs
  • Identify technical risks and commercial opportunities in repair, retrofit, and upgrade solutions
  • Identify capability gaps and create actionable resource and development plans
  • Establish best‑practice engineering processes ensuring quality, safety and compliance
  • Support and guide reverse‑engineering activities with regional teams
  • Provide technical leadership and governance across Compressors in Services EUA
  • Influence engineering standards, processes, and innovation priorities aligned with global strategy
Key requirements
  • Degree in Engineering (or relevant equivalent)
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience with a rotating equipment OEM or service provider
  • At least 10 years’ experience in fundamental design of steam turbines and/or centrifugal compressors >10 MW
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements
  • Proven experience in component design, reverse engineering, analysis and manufacturing related to steam turbines and/or centrifugal compressors
  • Experience supporting service, repair, retrofit and aftermarket environments is advantageous
  • Strong technical leadership and credibility with senior engineers and customers
  • Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills
  • Stakeholder management across global matrix organisations
