In this role you lead and grow Immersive's data engineering team, shaping a modern, scalable data platform that powers insights and decision-making. You partner with product, analytics, and commercial teams to translate data needs into reliable infrastructure and governance. You drive modernization, data quality, and platform reliability at scale, guiding a high-performing, inclusive engineering culture. Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a team of 8+ data engineers, fostering learning, inclusion, and technical excellence
  • Define and execute data engineering strategy aligned with product and business priorities
  • Modernize data infrastructure including cloud data warehouse, orchestration, and tooling
  • Establish and monitor team performance metrics, delivery timelines, and quality standards
  • Collaborate with product, analytics engineering, and commercial teams to bridge data engineering and business
  • Advocate scalable, secure, future-proof data solutions and promote best practices
  • Represent data engineering in business forums and with senior leadership to articulate value
  • Cultivate an inclusive, high-performing culture that values diverse perspectives and growth
Key requirements
  • Proven experience leading data engineering, analytics engineering, or platform teams (3+ years)
  • Strong coaching/mentorship style and ability to develop others
  • Deep understanding of modern data architectures, integration practices, orchestration, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
  • Technical credibility in data engineering: SQL, data modeling, pipelines; tools like dbt, Airflow, Fivetran
  • Hands-on with cloud data warehouses (BigQuery, Redshift, Snowflake) and data quality patterns
  • Ability to communicate complex data strategies to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Stakeholder management and data-driven decision making in fast-moving environments
  • Experience setting/executing data or technology strategy with KPI-driven outcomes
  • Collaborative, inclusive leadership valuing psychological safety
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and CI/CD practices
