Senior Engineering Manager, Data Streaming Platform

Summary

The Senior Engineering Manager will lead a distributed team responsible for Nordstrom's real-time data pipelines and streaming infrastructure. This hybrid role drives platform strategy, technical delivery, operational excellence, and team development.

Responsibilities

• Set the platform vision and roadmap, and guide engineers in delivering scalable, secure, highly available solutions.
• Lead architecture, project planning, implementation, and operations for cross-functional initiatives.
• Partner with product, program, business, and leadership teams to define goals and measure outcomes.
• Recruit, coach, and develop engineering talent while improving team performance and delivery.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of software engineering experience and 5 or more years managing a team.
• Degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with cloud-based, event-driven architecture, distributed systems, streaming data pipelines, and business-critical systems.
• Knowledge of technologies such as Kafka, Temporal, Airflow, Java, or Python, and experience leading cross-functional software projects.
