Senior Enterprise Data Architect | SC-Cleared | Inside IR35 | Day rate flexible DOE | Remote with occassional travel to Bristol Pigment Consulting is looking for a Senior Enterprise Data Architect Consultant to shape and deliver the data architecture underpinning a complex engineering transformation programme. You'll connect business capabilities, enterprise data models and technical delivery, establishing a consistent approach to how data is defined, governed, integrated and deployed across a diverse application landscape. This is a hands-on consulting role requiring the ability to translate enterprise architecture into practical designs and specifications that delivery teams can implement. What you'll deliver Define data domain boundaries aligned with business capabilities and value streams. Shape a domain-driven data architecture, applying Data Mesh principles and a clear approach to ownership and governance. Specify reusable data products, data contracts and APIs, including consistent identifiers and requirements for engineering teams. Establish shared reference data, business vocabularies and data definitions to support interoperability across domains. Develop and maintain conceptual and logical enterprise data models, connecting these to physical structures and implementation mappings. Define canonical schemas and master data models, including party structures, ownership hierarchies and matching and merging rules. Produce source-to-target mappings and transformation logic, using metadata from existing platforms to inform integration and migration. Map business capabilities, applications, data lineage and technology lifecycles. Design integration and data abstraction layers across ERP, SaaS, legacy and engineering platforms. Support event-driven schema design and work with platform engineers to deploy schemas and data pipelines through secure CI/CD processes. Collaborate with business, architecture, governance and engineering teams to maintain alignment between design and delivery. What you'll bring Active and Transferable SC or DV Clearance Typically 10+ years' experience in enterprise data architecture, delivering data designs for large transformation programmes. Practical experience applying Data Mesh principles: domain ownership, data products, self-service platforms and federated automated governance. Strong conceptual, logical and physical data-modelling skills. Experience using enterprise modelling tools such as Sparx Enterprise Architect, ER/Studio or equivalent, with an understanding of Model-Based Systems Engineering. Experience with enterprise architecture platforms such as LeanIX, Ardoq or Bizzdesign, supported by relevant architecture methods such as TOGAF or ArchiMate. Experience with data cataloguing and metadata extraction tools, such as Collibra and Safyr. A track record of designing data structures and integrations across platforms such as SAP S/4HANA, Oracle, Salesforce, engineering systems and master data management solutions. Experience designing API interfaces and event schemas for cloud environments, including technologies such as Kafka, AWS EventBridge or Azure Event Hubs. Familiarity with schema standards such as Avro, JSON Schema or Protobuf, and delivery through CI/CD, DevSecOps and integration platforms. Relevant professional credentials or affiliations, including DAMA membership or BCS architecture qualifications, would be advantageous. Why Pigment? Pigment is purpose-built to collaborate.
