Overview

As a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer at Databricks, you drive production-grade data and AI solutions for clients, owning end-to-end architecture and implementation. You work across data engineering, AI, and application development to deliver scalable, secure systems aligned with Databricks best practices. You collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape strategic delivery and provide deep customer empathy to ensure adoption and measurable outcomes. This role combines hands-on engineering with high-impact customer engagement and accelerators that scale across accounts.

Responsibilities
  • Lead production solution delivery including reference architectures, data ingestion and ML/AI model integration
  • Own architecture and design decisions to ensure secure, scalable solutions
  • Guide transformational big data projects end-to-end from design to deployment
  • Collaborate with engagement managers and customer teams to scope technical work
  • Embed with customer teams to understand challenges and deliver impact
  • Develop reusable accelerators, frameworks, and best practices for scale across accounts
  • Coordinate with Databricks technical teams, project managers, and customer teams to ensure delivery quality
  • Provide feedback to product and support to enable rapid issue resolution for engagements
Key requirements
  • Experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering/full stack development
  • Proficiency in Python, Scala, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern frameworks
  • Cloud experience with two or more ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) and expertise in at least one
  • Deep experience with Apache Spark and knowledge of Spark runtime internals
  • Familiarity with CI/CD for production deployments
  • Knowledge of MLOps, ML/AI models and AI APIs
  • Track record of designing and deploying end-to-end data architectures combining data pipelines, ML/AI models, and user interfaces
  • Experience delivering technical projects with scope, timelines, and measurable outcomes; strong documentation and white-boarding skills
  • Experience with enterprise clients and stakeholder management; travel ~20%
