Senior Full Stack Kotlin Developer

Overview

In this role you will drive the design, development and deployment of scalable, user-centred digital solutions. You will join a growing digital consultancy and work with cross‑functional teams to tackle complex client problems. You’ll lead by example, mentor engineers, and help raise engineering standards across the team. The position focuses on backend and full‑stack work using Kotlin and JVM, with cloud, DevOps and modern delivery practices. This is an opportunity to shape high-impact digital services across public and private sector clients.

Responsibilities
  • Lead development of user-centred, production-ready software
  • Design and build robust, scalable backend services using Kotlin, Java and Spring Boot
  • Develop and integrate RESTful APIs and microservices
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to solve complex client problems
  • Take ownership of development and deployment pipelines
  • Work across cloud environments and modern DevOps practices
  • Communicate technical solutions, prototypes and progress to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Identify and resolve technical issues and delivery bottlenecks
  • Mentor and coach other engineers, raising engineering standards across the team
Key requirements
  • Solid, current experience developing in Kotlin and the JVM ecosystem
  • Strong Java development background
  • Extensive experience across the full software development lifecycle
  • Strong experience with Spring Boot and the wider Spring Framework
  • Experience designing and developing microservices and RESTful APIs
  • Experience delivering robust, scalable and high-quality digital solutions
  • Strong understanding of public cloud platforms, ideally AWS, Azure and/or GCP
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD and DevOps practices, using tools such as Jenkins or Azure DevOps
