Overview

As a Senior Full Stack / Native Cloud Engineer at VP level in Jefferies' London Technology team, you will design and deliver cloud-native, data-driven platforms for front-office workflows. You lead end-to-end delivery, mentor engineers, and collaborate with stakeholders to build scalable, resilient systems. You work across backend, data pipelines, and frontend to ship high-impact solutions. This role offers influence on platform architecture and hands-on leadership within a global, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead design, development, and delivery of backend services and platform components (Java 8+/Spring Boot, Python/FastAPI)
  • Build and operate event-driven real-time data pipelines using Kafka
  • Architect distributed systems and scalable platforms
  • Design and maintain Java-based APIs and microservices (REST, OpenAPI, GraphQL, gRPC)
  • Work with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Amazon Redshift
  • Deliver responsive UIs with Angular or React
  • Own solutions end-to-end from design to deployment and support
  • Promote engineering best practices (testing, CI/CD, observability)
  • Mentor junior/mid engineers and set technical standards
  • Identify and scope complex technical challenges with minimal direction
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into robust solutions
  • Optimize performance, scalability, resiliency, and low-latency operation
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and continuous delivery improvements
  • Collaborate with globally distributed teams to ensure architecture consistency
  • Support production systems with root-cause analysis and improvements
Key requirements
  • Strong backend engineering with Java 8+ and Spring Boot, microservices
  • Strong Python development with FastAPI or similar
  • Experience building cloud-native, distributed, scalable systems
  • Hands-on Kafka or equivalent streaming tech
  • API design with REST, OpenAPI, GraphQL, gRPC
  • Relational and NoSQL data platforms (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redshift)
  • Frontend experience with Angular or React
  • Good knowledge of CI/CD, testing, observability, secure development
  • Production deployment and operations in cloud/hybrid environments
  • Leadership in technical delivery and architecture decisions
  • Strong analytical problem-solving and independent work ability
