As a Senior Golang Backend Engineer, you will build and maintain scalable backend systems in a fast-growing software house. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable features and superior user experiences, while coaching teammates to grow technically and professionally. You’ll drive architectural decisions and help shape product roadmaps in a dynamic, innovative environment. This fully remote role operates on UK hours and offers opportunities to advance your Golang and functional programming career.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with frontend teams to ensure seamless backend integration powering customer experiences
  • Partner with stakeholders and product teams to execute ambitious roadmaps that meet user needs and business objectives
  • Mentor and lead engineers to promote continuous learning and knowledge sharing
  • Support hiring and growth to scale the team as the organization expands
  • Develop and maintain complex backend systems using Golang and microservice patterns
  • Design well-defined interfaces using gRPC, protocol buffers, REST/JSON, and GraphQL
  • Contribute to DevOps practices, including containerized services and cloud-native deployments
Key requirements
  • 10+ years of commercial software engineering experience
  • Strong hands-on experience with Golang
  • Expertise in gRPC, protocol buffers, RESTful JSON and GraphQL
  • Solid understanding of microservice architectures and best practices
  • Experience with caching (Redis) and object storage
  • Hands-on with relational databases (SQLite, MySQL, PostgreSQL)
  • Experience with Kubernetes and serverless environments (Lambdas, Cloud Functions, Cloud Run)
  • Proficient in CI/CD pipelines (Google Cloud Build, Github Actions)
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written)
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Ability to make technical decisions in the best interests of users and business
