Senior HPC Engineer

In this role you will lead and shape our HPC compute platforms within a global team, driving complex Linux-based infrastructure projects and technical leadership. You’ll collaborate across regions, manage end-to-end deployments, and act as a deputy HPC Manager to drive performance and operational excellence. You’ll advance scalable, secure compute environments and participate in solution evaluation and PoCs that align with our mission to solve natural resource, energy, and infrastructure challenges.

• Serve as the final escalation point for complex Linux issues with expert troubleshooting
• Support and deputize for the HPC Manager to drive team performance and knowledge sharing
• Lead deployment of new technologies and compute platforms via Jira workflows with smooth handover
• Scout, evaluate, and pilot emerging technologies; run PoCs focused on scalability and supportability
• Manage end-to-end technical projects from scoping to handover
• Coordinate installations, upgrades, and infrastructure enhancements across global sites
• Define IT standards and frameworks ensuring security and excellence
• Optimize Linux systems for performance, availability, and compliance
• Contribute to continual service improvements and CCRBs
• Provide 24x7 on-call support on rotation for incidents and maintenance
• Use Jira Service Management and ITSM tools to manage escalations and changes
• Support in-house applications while ensuring policy alignment
• Balance project delivery with ongoing support in a fast-paced environment
• Collaborate with development, security, and operations to align IT with business needs
• Mentor colleagues and prepare clear documentation/presentations for diverse stakeholders

• Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
• 5+ years of Linux administration experience, ideally in an HPC environment
• Strong troubleshooting and IT service management skills
• Proficiency with automation/configuration tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, GitLab, Terraform)
• Experience with Docker and container orchestration
• Scripting skills (Bash, Python, Perl)
• Strong project/time management and communication skills
