Senior ICT Infrastructure Engineer

In this hands-on role you will own the engineering, architecture, and governance of core UK ICT platforms, focusing on Microsoft 365, identity, and endpoint security. You will operate across multiple support levels, lead a new Microsoft 365 tenant deployment, and drive security, automation, and compliance in a government/defence context. You’ll mentor colleagues, produce operational insights, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to shape the infrastructure roadmap.

• Own the engineering, architecture, and governance of core UK ICT platforms (Microsoft 365, Intune, Entra ID, Purview, Conditional Access, endpoint security tooling)
• Provide hands-on 1st–3rd line support and complex incident resolution
• Lead provisioning, configuration, and administration of a new Microsoft 365 tenant with strong security baselines and Zero Trust alignment
• Design and maintain automation/Infrastructure-as-Code (PowerShell, Microsoft Graph API, Terraform) to boost consistency and compliance
• Ensure alignment with security/compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, GDPR, Cyber Essentials, government standards) and maintain governance artifacts
• Act as senior technical reference, mentor juniors, and shape escalation paths and best practices
• Produce operational reporting and service trend analyses to drive improvements in reliability, performance, and security
• Engage with stakeholders and vendors (including Microsoft) to resolve escalations and guide roadmaps

• Five+ years in endpoint management or infrastructure roles
• Deep expertise in Microsoft 365, Intune (Autopilot), Entra ID, Conditional Access, Purview with security/compliance focus
• PowerShell scripting; familiarity with Microsoft Graph API; experience with Terraform preferred
• Strong Windows/macOS security administration, patching, BitLocker, Defender for Endpoint, DLP
• Experience with ISO 27001, GDPR, Cyber Essentials and government security classifications
• Effective communicator with mentoring capability and ability to work across levels of seniority
• Holding or able to obtain SC clearance; UK residency for at least five years; willing to travel to UK offices
