Senior Identity & Access Engineer

In this IDAM specialist role, you will lead technical workstreams to design secure, scalable identity solutions and guide delivery within strategic projects. You will strengthen identity and access services across the university, partnering with stakeholders to improve security and user lifecycle experiences. You’ll balance hands-on engineering with collaborative leadership to support teaching, research and learning across the campus. • Lead IDAM design activities and technical work packages for strategic projects and continuous improvement initiatives, owning plans and delivery timelines
• Develop secure, scalable designs translating university requirements into identity solutions aligned with enterprise architectures
• Contribute to identity provider and IGA services to enhance security and resilience of university systems
• Develop technical patterns, standards and guidance including RBAC policies and guidelines suited to university needs
• Review and optimize identity and user lifecycle management processes for a secure user experience
• Plan and execute end-to-end test plans for IDAM tools, systems and integrations; maintain technical documentation
• Monitor identity infrastructure, sustain service documentation, and pre-emptively address issues
• Build relationships with stakeholders and application owners, communicating progress, risks and issues clearly
• Support ITIL-aligned Incident, Problem and Change Management with the Service Management Office
• Horizon-scan identity and security trends, assess emerging technologies, and make recommendations to senior colleagues

• Extensive knowledge of IDAM tools and principles (SSO, federation, MFA, OpenLDAP, Shibboleth, Active Directory)
• Experience leading strategic, complex IDAM/security projects
• Proven track record delivering IDAM solutions compatible with enterprise architectures
• Ability to gather requirements from technical and non-technical stakeholders and manage expectations
• Strong fundamentals in identity security, design, documentation, testing, risk management and continuous improvement
• Experience in a structured IT service management environment (incident, change, problem)
• Ability to apply design methods with plan-driven or agile approaches
