Senior Infrastructure Architect – Remote

We are working with a fast-growing, Microsoft-focused Managed Services Provider that delivers complex cloud, infrastructure, networking and modern workplace solutions to organisations across the UK.

As part of continued growth, they are looking for an experienced Senior Infrastructure Architect to take a leading role in designing and shaping secure, scalable and resilient infrastructure solutions for a diverse portfolio of customers.

This is a senior, customer-facing position suited to someone who combines deep technical infrastructure expertise with strong architectural and consulting skills . You will work closely with customers from initial discovery and requirements gathering through solution design, technical governance and handover into engineering and managed services.

As Senior Infrastructure Architect, you will:

  • Lead the architecture and design of complex Microsoft infrastructure and cloud solutions.
  • Work directly with customers to understand their current environment, business requirements and future technology strategy.
  • Design solutions across Microsoft Azure, hybrid cloud, on-premises infrastructure and Microsoft 365 .
  • Produce high-level and low-level designs, technical roadmaps and architecture documentation.
  • Design secure, highly available and resilient infrastructure environments.
  • Lead architecture around Azure migrations, landing zones, identity, networking, compute, storage, backup and disaster recovery .
  • Design and advise on hybrid infrastructure , including integration between traditional on-premises environments and Microsoft cloud services.
  • Provide technical leadership throughout infrastructure transformation and migration projects.
  • Work alongside project managers, consultants and infrastructure engineers to ensure successful delivery.
  • Act as a senior technical authority and escalation point across complex customer environments.
  • Contribute to technical workshops, discovery sessions, solution proposals and statements of work.
  • Help define infrastructure standards, best practices and repeatable architectural frameworks.
  • Maintain awareness of Microsoft's evolving technology roadmap and identify opportunities to improve and modernise customer environments.

What We're Looking For:

You will ideally have significant experience working within an MSP, Microsoft Partner, IT consultancy or professional services environment , where you have designed solutions across multiple customer environments.

Strong experience across several of the following areas would be expected:

  • Microsoft Azure architecture
  • Azure Landing Zones
  • Azure networking
  • Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD
  • Microsoft 365
  • Windows Server
  • Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP
  • Hybrid cloud architecture
  • Virtualisation – Hyper-V and/or VMware
  • Infrastructure and cloud migrations
  • Backup, disaster recovery and business continuity
  • High availability and resilient infrastructure
  • Networking, firewalls, VPNs and connectivity
  • Intune / endpoint management
  • Security and Zero Trust principles
  • Infrastructure monitoring and management
  • Azure cost optimisation and governance

You don't necessarily need to be hands-on with every technology, but you should have the technical depth to design solutions, challenge technical decisions and provide architectural leadership .

The Person

We're particularly interested in people who can operate comfortably between customers, commercial teams and technical delivery teams .

You'll need to be able to take complex technical requirements and translate them into clear, practical infrastructure solutions.

Previous experience working for an MSP or Microsoft Partner would be highly advantageous , as the role involves working across multiple customers, technologies and projects rather than managing a single internal IT estate.

Microsoft certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert or equivalent would also be beneficial.

Why Join?

This is an opportunity to join an ambitious and growing Microsoft technology business where architecture plays a central role in how customer solutions are designed and delivered.

You'll have the opportunity to:

  • Architect complex Microsoft and Azure environments.
  • Work across a varied portfolio of customers and transformation projects.
  • Influence technology strategy and architectural standards.
  • Work alongside experienced Microsoft cloud and infrastructure specialists.
  • Remain close to emerging Microsoft technologies.
  • Take genuine ownership of customer architecture rather than simply implementing predefined solutions.

The position is remote within the UK , with occasional customer or team meetings where required.

If you're an experienced Infrastructure Architect from an MSP, Microsoft Partner or IT consultancy background and are looking for a senior role where you can shape customer technology strategy and architecture, we'd be interested in speaking with you.
