Senior Infrastructure Engineer & Cloud Team Lead

In this role you will lead one of our Infrastructure delivery teams and be responsible for the day-to-day management of the platform. You will drive ongoing project work to enable change delivery and manage production cloud environments securely as tech debt evolves. You will collaborate with architects, engineers and service managers to resolve incidents and improve services while controlling costs. This is a chance to shape HMRC’s cloud infrastructure and mentor a growing team in a large, mission-critical environment.

• Manage, coordinate and prioritise tasks to resolve technical incidents quickly
• Suggest improvements to practices and provision environments
• Deliver projects to implement new cloud infrastructure
• Maintain environments with a focus on security and reducing technical debt
• Collaborate with architects, engineers and service managers to fix problems and escalate repeat issues
• Identify opportunities to improve service and reduce cost
• Coach and mentor junior team members to maintain high capability
• Own the technical aspects of projects and ensure successful delivery

• Extensive experience in an enterprise infrastructure environment
• Technical delivery in complex IT infrastructure projects
• Experience building and supporting cloud-based infrastructure
• Experience managing cloud environments
• Windows Server administration across current and legacy versions
• Experience deploying core infrastructure services and interdependencies (AD, GPO, networking, monitoring, backups)
• Ability to translate strategy into operational technical solutions
• Experience establishing system monitoring and transitioning services to VMware platforms
• Delivery management in multi-vendor environments and ownership of issue resolution
