Senior Infrastructure Operations Engineer, Sovereign Operations, Wiltshire

As an Infrastructure Operations Engineer, you deploy and manage compute, network, storage and security infrastructure for Google's private cloud deployments in the UK. You will automate provisioning, roll out features, and maintain secure, observable environments in collaboration with Google product teams. You troubleshoot incidents, participate in on-call rotations, and contribute to playbooks and global practices. Your work directly supports mission-critical customers with secure, scalable cloud solutions. This role offers hands-on impact in a high-security, customer-focused public sector context.

• Build, configure and deploy compute, network, storage and security infrastructure in line with Google playbooks
• Resolve profile escalations and issues to improve customer experience
• Manage health and performance of the environment using observability tools and perform maintenance
• Roll out new features ensuring platform security and reliability
• Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation for incident response within SLAs
• Provide technical implementation support in customer environments and advise on cross-product integrations
• Update playbooks and contribute to knowledge sharing across UK and global teams
• Troubleshoot complex problems involving debugging, networking, system administration and scripting

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field
• 5 years automating infrastructure provisioning, DevOps, CI/CD, and cloud-based solution design
• Experience with physical/virtual infrastructure, operating systems or virtualization
• Proficiency in scripting/development languages (Python, Go, Bash)
• Experience with Linux/Docker/Kubernetes or Windows/Active Directory environments
• Active or able to obtain Developed Vetting (DV) UK security clearance
