Overview
In this role you will provide advanced support for mainframe Db2 environments, helping maintain services to Group standards and SLAs. You’ll drive the strategy and design of the mainframe development and test estate and own the zDBA technology roadmap. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to standardise processes and drive improvements, including out-of-hours delivery. This is a chance to shape the bank’s mainframe capabilities and support its digital transformation journey.

Responsibilities
- Provide support for complex mainframe Db2 environments to tight timescales
- Drive strategy and design across the mainframe development and test estate
- Own and deliver the zDBA technology roadmap with stakeholders
- Implement standardisation and drive improvement initiatives in the team
- Collaborate across Lab and Platform teams to develop and implement process initiatives
- Ensure processes, governance, and procedures are rigorously adhered to
Key requirements
- Extensive Db2 on z/OS expertise
- Expert-level Db2 performance monitoring and SQL tuning
- Expert-level governance of DDL changes and change-control processes
- Experience resolving and troubleshooting critical online systems
- Proven ability to communicate complex concepts to Senior Leadership
- Experience coaching junior team members in Db2 fundamentals and operational processes
- Desirable: 10+ years as a z/OS Db2 DBA in a financial organisation
