Senior Infrastructure Specialist - zDatabase IMS Sysprog

In this role, you will develop, support and enhance IMS and Datacom services within the zMainframe environment to keep critical banking platforms resilient and secure. You’ll work in a collaborative Core Infrastructure team, driving infrastructure improvements and supporting strategic programmes. The role offers exposure to cutting-edge mainframe tech and opportunities to shape the future of banking infrastructure. • Provide technical direction for IMS and Datacom in the zMainframe environment
• Design, implement, and maintain infrastructure services aligned with Group standards
• Ensure systems are secure, available, resilient and performant
• Support infrastructure projects, upgrades and technology refreshes from planning to deployment
• Investigate and resolve complex incidents; identify root causes and long-term solutions
• Participate in on-call rotation and provide out-of-hours support
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable services
• Identify opportunities for automation and continuous improvement
• Contribute to technical documentation, standards and mentoring activities

• Extensive background as an IMS Systems Programmer in a z/OS Mainframe setting
• Experience installing, configuring, supporting, and maintaining IMS and Datacom products
• Experience supporting large-scale, production environments
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills in complex incidents
• Knowledge of mainframe operations, change management and service management
• Experience in regulated or enterprise-scale environments
• Effective communication and collaboration across technical and non-technical teams
• Proactive approach to delivering resilient, high-quality infrastructure services
• Desirable: Datacom Admin experience for z/OS; automation, scripting or infrastructure optimisation; modernisation initiatives involving mainframe platforms
